A reason why many people act little is because whenever someone tries to break the mold of societal norms they are often ostracised and dragged back down. It’s quite a common thing.
For example, many people resent those who are simply better than them at certain aspects of life. Intellectuals are bullied at school for example, or anyone with an opinion differing from those living in an echochamber You are guilty of this too, FJ.
The idea is to adopt a stoic attitude, and be based, only changing when certain beliefs are proven to be incorrect, as well as giving anyone who tries to bring you down the middle finger.
Tl;dr, tell them to **** off and die. The amount of politeness you use is at your discretion
